Unfortunately, it comes down to "what's more profitable/cost-effective?"- but until Big Pharma and the medical insurance industry finally butt heads over what's more costly over the long term, this trend will continue. Businessmen like numbers, and though there undoubtedly will never be any sort of "silver bullet" emerging from the world of psychopharmaceuticals, all those lovely hard numbers, combined with hard profits, will keep the focus on drugs rather than individuals... therapy is much harder to quantify.
