STANTON -- A Stanton Little League coach was arrested Thursday on suspicion of molesting a boy on his team.

Ricky Lynn Vaughn, 49, was booked into the Orange County Jail on Thursday after being arrested at his Stanton home, said Jim Amormino, a sheriff's spokesman. Bail was set at $100,000, and he is to be arraigned today on three felony counts of lewd conduct with a child.

Vaughn, a plumber, is accused of molesting the boy during the past two months. Authorities believe more victims may come forward.

The boy's family made the allegations two weeks ago. Vaughn has volunteered with Little League in Stanton and Anaheim for 20 years, authorities said.

Police are aware of one more boy who may be a victim, Amormino said. That boy is younger than 14.

Vaughn does not have any children of his own in Little League, Amormino said.

Adam Medina, president of Stanton Little League, said he believes the allegations are the first for the 200- member Stanton league.

The league's background checks of Vaughn included fingerprinting.

"(Police) said we did everything in our power to protect the children," Medina said.

The league canceled prac tices and games Thursday to shield children from the news media.

"It could happen anywhere. Priests, neighbors. You can't trust anyone anymore," said Paul Jaramillo, who grew up playing in the league and now coaches his son's team.

Debi Smit whose son once played in the Stanton league, said talking with kids about what's appropriate behavior is a must. "You got to talk about it ahead of time," Smit said. "You got to get to them before anybody else does."
