I got word of this today and found the story on a tv station's web site, WBAL in Baltimore, MD .
Parents looking for pictures of sexual offenders now have a new search method.

The U.S. Department of Justice recently launched a Web site that offers photographs and information about offenders, including the neighborhoods in which they live and their proximity to schools.

The national database currently has records from 22 states, and officials expect to add the remaining records by year's end.

State authorities supply the information for the national registry and are responsible for its accuracy.
Here's the federal registry . The search function doesn't seem to work, at least for me, but just having the awareness to put this site online seems like a Good Thing.
