AN Eton College master walked free yesterday despite being caught with sickening child porn.

Classics tutor Ian McAuslan, 58, avoided jail even though he admitted possessing images showing adults having full sex with boys.

The decision to let McAuslan off with a suspended sentence came just 24 hours after The Sun told how shamed judge David Selwood also avoided prison for child porn.

Campaigner Sara Payne, whose daughter Sarah was murdered by a paedophile, said: “It is disgusting. Is it one rule for the Establishment and one for the rest?”

McAuslan was trapped after Eton staff suspicious of his internet use tricked him into handing in his computer for “updating”.

The Berkshire college’s IT department found a vile hoard of images of boys being sexually abused in a secret folder and called in Thames Valley Police.

McAuslan admitted having over 2,000 images of children, 200 of them described as indecent, when he appeared before magistrates in Bracknell in April.

They referred him to Reading Crown Court — saying the maximum 12-month jail sentence they could impose was not enough.

But yesterday Judge Critchlow imposed a sentence of only nine months, suspended for two years.

The judge did not even make an order forbidding McAuslan from working with children.

And Judge Critchlow told the master it was “a tragedy” his career had ended this way.

McAuslan admitted 16 charges relating to indecent pictures. He has resigned after 24 years at Eton but keeps his pension.

Lyn Costello, co-founder of Mothers Against Murder and Aggression, said: “People like judges and teachers should be punished harder than the rest of society because they’re in a position of trust.”

Conservative in sex cases expelled by party

A Tory town councillor in Michael Howard’s ( the Leader of the Opposition ) constituency has been kicked out of the party for failing to disclose his criminal record -including sexual assaults on under-age girls.
Father-of-two Robert Richdale stood as a “family man” in the elections for Folkestone Town Council last month.
But he has been convicted of crimes including causing death by dangerous driving, drugs offences, and sexual offences involving girls under 16 and has served a total of more than three years in prison.
Mr Richdale, 54, told the Folkestone Herald he had received a caution for the most recent sexual crime, which involved a girl who visited his home in 1997.
“She told me she was 15 but she was 14 really She stayed at at my place and I woke up one morning to find her having sex with me.
“But I am not a sex case and I am not motivated by lust. I wish everyone was like me,” he added.
Mr Richdale, who lives in Folkestone, was jailed for six months in 1973 after admitting at Sheerness Magistrates Court indecent assault on two under-age girls.
The chairman of the Folkestone and Hythe Conservative party, Jonathan Holborow, said Mr Richdale had been expelled immediately they learned of his record, and called on him to resign as a councillor.

Ex- priest is cleared in sex case

A former clergyman has been cleared of downloading indecent pictures of children from the internet.
Anthony Hyams, aged 36, of Cherry Orchard, Kidderminster, had pleaded not guilty when the case came before Worcester Crown Court in March to charges of making and possessing indecent photographs in December 2002.
At the resumed hearing, prosecutor Nicolas Cartwright said the defence case was that Hyams’s computer had been left running and that a programme had been automatically downloaded.
Two computer experts had been consulted and said that it was impossible to prove that images had deliberately been collected and stored.
Judge Michael Mott ordered not guilty verdicts on all seven charges.
