I Dream of Blue Water.
Stare out at the hard Atlantic,
Watching the waves crash upon the shore.
The breeze is cold and biting
And the ocean roar blots out the sound.
I dream of blue water, racing, dipping, floating free.
Away from the land and endless cares.
Where the salty tang of fresh sea air
Lifts me to another place.
Splash down in the choppy waves,
Imagine the fish sliding on past.
They don't judge, they wish to get close
And explore this new thing that rides with them.
I ride with them to the end of the riptide.
Breach the foam, and soar aloft with the gulls
That scream and cry and call out to Heaven.
No one can grab what they cannot touch
And I stay ahead of the jealous hand of the Earth.
Up I climb, toward the warm, bright sun.
The face of God above the land.
I wish to know His mercy, and feel His love.
I touch the surface and do not burn
But heal, smile, and return to the ground.
I dream of the ocean, and draw toward the freedom
That moving water brings to man.
I think fo you, little brother, and hope one day
You shall be free to come to the shore.
I walk beside the ocean, and dream of it too, little brother. And welcome the freedom it promises to us who follow it.
One day, we'll stroll the shore together, I know it.
Peace and love,
