Innocence Lost

I've fallen from grace
From the pedestal I once adorned
With no one near to break my fall
And now I have shattered
Pieces strewn throughout this life
Never to be reconstructed
For my innocence has been lost
Never to reappear

I stand as tall as I can
But still bowing my head
For I know I can never be whole again
But the world doesn't notice
Or perhaps just doesn't care
About this innocence of mine
Stolen without a tear

I go through life as well as I can
Still stumbling
But not allowing anyone too near
For I must face this world alone
No one can know the real me
Huddled behind these walls of steel
For my innocence has been stolen

I watch the world pass
Gladly sitting atop my perch
For contact is impossible
For someone as corrupted as I
For my innocence has been shattered

"Help Me" I silently cry
Still no one hears
Or perhaps no one heeds
For I can never be the same
Knowing what innocence I have lost

But still I will live this life
As but a shadow
For I know what has been stolen from me
But still I will dream of my innocence regained.

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible in not a declaration, it's a dare.

"See my shadow changing,
Stretching up and over me.
Soften this old armor.
Hoping I can clear the way
By stepping through my shadow,
Coming out the other side."

There is a scientific fact: when a bone has been broken, it usually heals stronger at the place it's broken.

Yes, you will not be the same. But you will be stronger for it. Recovery will help you deal with the pain and the memories, and show you how to put them away in a healthy way.

No, they will never go away completely, but you will live. You've done so much. You have survived.

Now you will get better and stronger.

Peace and love,
