He comes at night
In the darkest nights
Enters your room
You hear his steps
But you canít move
You can see his scary face
But you canít scream
In your bed you are frozen
You can feel his hand on your body
Slipping it under your shirt
You can feel his heavy breath
Hot hot
Like a wild dragon breathing out fire
You can smell his sweat
When his body is next to you
You can hear your heartbeats
You are screaming
But no voice is coming out
You are running
But your legs are like jelly
You want to wake up from this nightmare
But you canít
Because itís a reality
And you canít escape

I have felt that way many times

many times

Standing together is so much better than hiding in the dark.

that brings back a memory of waiting til his large body would rise and let in light which was my cue to take a breath.
Now I breath when I want. He no longer controls my life and
I am grateful for all the people that have listened shared and shown compassion for a frightened little guy becoming a man.

I'm a freeman now, his authority's dead

Heba's poem is so moving and so true. People who have never been through this will just never understand what it's like. I'm glad we have people who are willing to turn to poetry and try to relate their own feelings in such a powerful way.

Much love,

Nobody living can ever stop me
As I go walking my freedom highway.
Nobody living can make me turn back:
This land was made for you and me.
