A Prayer to Those Suffering In Silence
Lord God, Jesus, whoever you are,
Look down upon us, your children.
Our hearts bleed like yours does.
Our souls bear stigmata unseen by our fellows.
Those who suffer have no safe harbor.
We bear the wounds for sins not our own.
Like you, Jesus, we suffered for crimes
That we never committed.
Mohammed, great prophet, God's chosen.
You were squeezed to find your voice.
Ask Allah, the merciful and compassionate,
To give us the courage to find our own.
Moses, guardian and teacher of the Chosen,
Claimed you weren't worthy of the task.
I beseech you, shepherd of a nation,
Help us to see our own worthiness.
Lord God, bless us all, the outcasts.
We who are ignored in our pain.
Let your love flow like a cleansing rain
To wash away the wounds and make us whole.
This I ask in the name of your forgotten.
Those who only ask for some small respite.
Show us the way to your home.
Take away our burdens, o Lord, Amen.
For all who suffer with the pain of abuse and shame.
