So Long, My Friends
I don't like to say goodbye
Because we never really stay apart.
Either miles or thoughts or passing
Can separate, but never end the bond
That keep us together.
So long, my friends
That we are taking our leave for a while
Is sad, that's true.
But never forget that we will be with
Each other again one day soon.
For I look at the stars and know that
Somewhere you look at the same ones
Or you look on me from them.
Waiting for the day I walk your path
And meet you where your journey ends.
Jerusalem's Gate is where we all connect
At the beginning of the New Kingdom,
And if that's where we will hug again,
Truly, that will make eternity that much better.
Because then, I know, we will be parted no more.
We've seen good and bad times, we laugh and cry.
Nothing takes that away from us.
When we shall meet again, I don't know.
But we will never be without each other
When we carry our love with us.
So long, beloved, and watch for me.
I'll need you to guide my way.
The way is long, and sometimes crooked.
You know how I hate to get lost, so
Please light the stars for me to find you.
For everyone who has gone before me.
I miss you, but we will be together again.
