I wasn't sure where to post this. It's a poem that seems to belong under 'Poetry,' yet it's spiritually oriented. I'll let the mods decide.

Exhausted, relieved.
Is all complete?
A lie I believed
Can no longer compete.

God, You showed me
The end of a lie.
Many a bad memory
Now drift on by.

I thank You, Lord
With all my soul.
For the lie was a sword
That caused a huge hole.

This age old lie
Was a dear close friend.
A false intimacy
That had no end.

You blessed me, Dear Father
By letting me hurt.
It showed a deep bother,
A lie mixed with dirt.

The great good I feel,
The laughing while crying,
The joy You reveal
I'm no longer denying.

Lord, Look! I forgot
There once was a lie.
The fight which I fought -
Now a bad dream gone by.

Money talks, but all it tells me is goodbye.

If I could meet myself as a boy...

This part really helped me:

Many a bad memory
Now drift on by.
I often think of what it will be like when I feel a lot better about things. I know I don't get to forget it all; I used to think I just want to forget all the crap, but now I'm not sure I want that anymore. What happened has had a big effect on me and I guess my attempts to cope with it all are shaping who I will be in coming years.

I like to think this means not that abuse shaped me, but that the challenge of dealing with it did. It will be okay if I can reach the point where I remember the bad things, but they just "drift on by".

Thanks for the thoughtful poem.

Much love,

Nobody living can ever stop me
As I go walking my freedom highway.
Nobody living can make me turn back:
This land was made for you and me.
(Woody Guthrie)

Andy, wow this is powerful... Thanks for sharing!

My signiture is "pride never hears the truth".... I have lived in pride and the lie never ends until we know the Truth.

The sum of a man's life is... His ability and capasity to love and value others.
