This is a great song that i really liked as a kid. i guess i didn't really understand why at the time - now i do. i just remembered it the other day and looked it up - read the lyrics again - and was surprised at how well it describes how i used to be:

"Behind Blue Eyes"
The WHO

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you

No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool

If I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
If I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

I like this song too.

it's been a few years since I've heard it.

I'll add this song to the list of songs that I liked, but never knew why until many years later when I started on my recovery.

here is another song that i immediately liked, felt a connection to and didn't know why until my abuse memories came back. now it hits me hard every time i hear it... especially the line "to steal from you the innocence that bleeds."

it's called anna lee by dream theater
