Welcome home, brother. You're among men who understand. This is the only place I feel at home, and now you will soon, too.

I'm a vinyl collector and listener, too. Might listen to side 3 of this 1981 Willie Nelson's greatest hits LP in your honor. "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys" ...

I'll be just fine and dandy
Lord, it's like a hard candy Christmas
I'm barely getting through tomorrow
But I won't let sorrow get me way down.

I would like to apologize for posting such a vague intro, and would like to make up for that now. I'm 45, and was victimized by 2 family members and 2 friends of the family. This was from age 8 to age 12. I eventually exposed my relatives after seeking help for the suicidal depression I was experiencing. My parents divorced because of this and I left home by the time I was 16. I do well most of the time, but every now and then something will trigger a memory and I'm a terrified 8 year old again. Have looked around the site extensively, and I feel I don't have to be scared anymore because there are folks here who have a damn good idea as to how I feel.....

Welcome. Having men here who "get it" helps immensely. It's like one big ethnic group who understands the culture. I wish you much success in your quest for healing. -Nick

Hello Recordplayer69,

I am sorry for your reason to be here, but glad for you to have found and joined us here at MS.

You are not alone, as others have expressed.

Unfortunately before too long, you too will be welcoming new and fearful members and extolling the benefit this forum has for those of us who need to be here.
I say unfortunately because there seems to be a never ending flow of survivors in need of support, and that to me is terribly unfortunate.

There is a great deal to be derived from those who have walked this road before us.

Take your time, and when you're ready, speak your truth.
We will be here to listen, empathize and offer support in whatever way we can.

Take care and keep well.
Presence is the key, for all we have is now.
All we ever have is right now.

Formerly Adam A Gedman (AKA - A damAGed man)

But you can call me Kevin

Hi RP69,

Welcome! You're among friends. I can honestly say I learned more about myself and the abuse in one month of visiting this site than in the decades since it happened. I hope the same holds true for you. Reach out, join the chat board, or post as you see fit and are comfortable.
