I was feeling particularly left out of things at church today. I'm reminded that I don't belong in the families there, yet I can't seem to start a family of my own. This is what came of it..

I saw reminders all the morn
Of what is not for me
A family dear from me is torn
No hope that I can see

I don't belong to families here
I'm an invisible man
Won't someone please to me draw near
Just say hi, if you can

I know your family is not mine
Reality tells me daily so
But please invite me, a little light shine
Since I head home with nowhere to go

My throat is sore as I hold back tears
It plagues me all day long
No family for me is one of my fears
An empty life with no song

I go unnoticed, I don't exist
Unless they need talent or skill
After which, I cease and desist
To be seen, again I become nil

I've people over for dinner I've made
I love having company
It's not that I seek to be repaid
I'm just lonely, consider me

You don't have to adopt this man
You need not take me in for good
Just remember me, if you can
Think of me, if you could

Money talks, but all it tells me is goodbye.

If I could meet myself as a boy...

That's a moving poem and I'm sorry you are in this situation. I hope it gets resolved for you; I think you would make a great family man.

Much love,

Nobody living can ever stop me
As I go walking my freedom highway.
Nobody living can make me turn back:
This land was made for you and me.
(Woody Guthrie)

I've heard this same story from other singles. You're certainly not alone in how you feel. There is, of course, nothing I can do to help aleviate this need you have, but I do consider you to be my friend. Always will.

Thanks for this. Thanks for being willing to share how you feel. Your poem causes me to stop and consider folk in my own congregation who may be feeling quite the same as yourself.

Lots of love,

Andy, we understand loneliness here so well here, and how empty it feels and how badly it hurts inside. How can empty hurt like that? I'm sure so many of them love you. They have no idea how you're feeling inside. I'm so sorry. Wish we lived closer. I'm really boring, but we could hang out sometimes.

I'm healing now, and I wasn't sure I would.
