many of mine were close to my age - but were more street-smart, stronger, had more status and peer respect, were in positions of authority - teams captains, higher ranks in scouts, more popular or self-confident, etc. the difference to me was not so much about age differences - but differences in power, influence, and social support systems. i felt weak, insignificant, and helpless in their hands and under their influence and control.

Five years. When I first told my mother about the abuse not long after I became a teenager she dismissed it as "boys experimenting". I did not think of what the bastard did to me as abuse for a long time because it was only five year age difference. When I considered the fact he was "an adult" in a physical sense, and I was only eight years old, something clicked in my head. I now call it rape, because that is what it was: John R. Jr. repeatedly raped me.

He was a "grownup," dunno but might have been 30-ish. I was a few months shy of my 7th birthday.

That's the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller, but for want of an understanding ear.

Feel free to call me a liar or that it wasn't abuse or whatever, but the 1st three were younger than myself.

4th was 4 or 5 years older and female. What a lucky kid right?

5th was once like the first 3. Younger. But was the one that was more like a forcible rape than any of the others.

Talk about a massive brainf**k.
