What did you do?
Was screamed from their chairs
My parents did blame
An eight year old stare

Frozen on site
As those two rushed past
Was not all there
As They screamed all aghast

The lights were all out
After they left
Was inside alone
Hope was bereft

Hours went by
And nobody cared
An eight year old child
Was not well prepared

Shoulder the blame
For this tragic event
They did it so easily
And he did consent

Reinforce it again
If he ever asks
The blame it is his
He was given the task

But older eyes see
The flaw in their ways
He's no longer eight
He can see through the haze

The lessons we learned
Don't just quickly secede
Responsibility of a child
Had become the need
Presence is the key, for all we have is now.
All we ever have is right now.
