Submit

I don’t like
the little button
on my computer screen
that I have to hit to
send a message.

I have had
enough of that word
to last several lifetimes.
Couldn’t it just say
“send” instead?

They might
just as well
call it a trigger
instead of a
button.

Hi Lee ...

I thought I was the only one who thought it wasn't a very
good choice of words in a place like this.
In one way or another we had to "submit" ...
and some of us still are.
We shouldn't have to do it here.
'SEND'
Thanks for bringing it up.
I've wanted to for a long time but didn't want to upset
the other guys needlessly if I was the only one who didn't
like it.
How egotistical am I ?!
I've even gone so far as to question if it might be a part
of why I find it hard to 'submit' some poems.
I don't think so ... but just the fact that I considered it
shows that my discomfort with the word isn't just in my mind.

"submit"
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/submit

Full Definition of SUBMIT

transitive verb

1

a : to yield to governance or authority

b : to subject to a condition, treatment, or operation

2

: to present or propose to another for review, consideration, or decision; also : to deliver formally

3

: to put forward as an opinion or contention

intransitive verb

1

a : to yield oneself to the authority or will of another : to surrender

b : to permit oneself to be subjected to something

2

: to defer to or consent to abide by the opinion or authority of another

---------------------

"submit" is a very loaded word.
loaded with infinite inferences and implications.
a word i have never been comfortable with.
currently grappling with "higher power" issues.
that is the step on which i always stub my toe and stumble.
