Gary,

We must be on the same wavelength. I just posted this in the News Forum, and hadn't even seen your post on it here.

I was heartened to read how the kids have done work with other survivors to deal with her abuse.

It seems like a need for therapy to deal with the anger more than anything. On the other hand, part of me thinks, "What a wonderful idea." Although, I wouldn't have gone about it in an obituary.

I have to say, that saddens me. Even when a mother or father does such cruel things, they are still human and deserve compassion.

As the Buddha says, living in hatred is like drinking poison and expecting someone else to die.

it's only sept 13 how do they have an obit for sept 30 2013? was this a typo?
I would love to see more honest obits. disagree that cruel abusers deserve compassion (i.e, lies).

I don't want to hijack the thread but I can't keep my mouth shut. Adults who rape and torture children do not deserve my compassion, nor do I consider them human. They are lower than animals, and deserve the greatest punishment that civilized society can deliver. Period.

The best part: "died alone." I only pity the poor valiant cancer cells that had to make the ultimate sacrifice.

The whole thing reminds me of Mommy Dearest. As much as my mother would deserve something like this, I'll refrain from such action, but if there were a memorial for her, I'd have a hard time thinking of anything nicely-memorable to say.

Yup "mommy dearest" hits the nail on the head Texan and I think Keith is bang on about the need for meaningful help with the anger I know I have.
I wouldn't go the route these survivors went in such a public forum. I would just finally have some closure and maybe an end to the nightmare if I new she and her son were gone. Maybe I could stop being afraid.
Great tune by Elton John BTW

Get this. My foster mother used to communicate by letter writing with the movie star Joan Crawford all the time. The person "Mommy dearest" the movie was about. She would go on about what a wonderful woman and mother she was. I remembered this years later after watching the movie. Blew my mind.
