That's fantastic (and interesting) news. Does anyone know why the categories and age projections are different? How does the manner of transmission affect the projected life expectancy?

I may be mistaken, but isn't "World AIDS Day" calendared on a day in October? If so, this article is great news to precede the day.

I interviewed a leading researcher with a biotech center studying the Hepatitis B virus. He is a major player in both viral hepatitis and AIDS research and maintains that AIDS has gone essentially from a death sentence in the 80's to a manageable disease today, much like diabetes. He considers Hepatitis B more dangerous due to the decreased ability of doctors to manage the course of that disease.
