Yes I guess they did mess up, badly.
But I've read the book by Victim Number 1 and his therapist. I think that they and the mother had to work very hard and be very persistent. Even then it was like a small team against a huge adversary. Their opposition at one point included a prosecuting attorney who became the governor. In other words the adversaries were wealthy and powerful and resisted any kind of prosecution. And yes I think (the victim and T) they are being honest about it. Victim Number 1 had to endure being teased and ostracized at school. It was an incredible case. I recommend the book highly. They were being heroic and they helped all survivors. This is one of the heroic battles in the realm of survivors.
