you could always do the Francis of Assissi thing and start your own order!
one of my all time favorite books (and i read a LOT!) is called "The Last Western" by Thomas Klise.
in it there is an organization that is almost like an order called "The Silent Servants of the Used, Abused and Utterly Screwed Up." in many ways that is how i think of MS. but they actually intevened in real-life actions as well. i have often wished that someone would start such an order. i have seen flashes of one-time events that approach their methods - but never a sustained movement. it is worth the read - but hard to find.
