Hey guys. Just wanted to share a piece from the soundtrack for the movie 'The Fountain', written by Clint Mansell. I recorded this today - sorry for all the bad background noise, it was on my laptop, not the best recording equipment. I'll be re-recording it soon, possibly tomorrow - but I just wanted to share this first with everyone anyway.

To keep a long story short, I had buried this piece mentally, even though it was probably one of the most haunting, pain-evoking, beautiful pieces I'd ever heard. But - I was chatting on here a few weeks ago, and someone (a good friend, I'd say) brought it up, saying it was one of his favorites. For the first time in a while, I could re-associate it with something positive - him, and, well, you guys. I'm not very good with expressing any tender/affectionate feelings verbally and in public. Even when chatting online. But when I recorded this, honestly, I pictured all of you guys. The posters on the forums, the guys who I ! talk to regularly on chat. This is the only way I can think of to open up and try to be close to you guys on an emotional level. I guess the title sums it up - 'Together We Will Live Forever' - I think we're all in it together, even if we're in different places, or of different ages and backgrounds. I hope it'll somehow lift you up when you're down - just a reminder that you're not alone.

As I told you in chat, this is a beautiful piece. I hope you'll share more of your music with me in the future. If there's one thing I can appreciate, it is musical talent.

It's funny because on my way home tonight I was listening to the radio and they were talking about how minimalism in music is all about how it is difficult to understand the concept of time. Your piece (and the title of it) go beyond time to something else, something comforting in its beautiful wisdom.

The radio program also talked about how this kind of music began in the last century but at the turn of this century melodic elements were added to the hypnotic harmonies. I find the harmonic repetitions healing in a way, even as the melodies seem to tell a story.

Hope you can continue on your musical path with the patience and feeling you possess.

These pieces are wonderful, Husky - melancholy yet full of hope. You play piano quite beautifully! Thank you for sharing.

Husky:

These pieces are beautiful and moving. Your talent is astonishing.

There is much to love in each piece, but I wanted to mention in particular that I experienced the ending to "The Good Fight" like a promise and a foretaste of the comfort and healing I hope to find in my own life.

Thanks for sharing these.

I sound computer-illiterate. lol I tried on both MAC and PC. Does it require a special plug-in to play it?

Well...yes.

If you want the special plug-in app that makes Elton John sound like Concerned Husky, the plug-in has to be specially ordered. It takes 6 weeks for delivery.

If I explained why this post of yours is so timely and pertinent to my day, it would require a very lengthy post. Just please know that it means a great deal. It's like an affirmation from beyond. Thank you for posting it for us.

Sven,
Those are fantastic. Thanks for letting us see them.

I have no idea why, but the first one really struck something inside of me and I began weeping. (A therapist would have a field day with that information!)

The second is full of the most amazing photography I have ever seen.

Both amazing.

This is my first shot at composing and playing my own piece. It's called "The Lone Path." It has a sad history - the melody "came" to me the night a fellow member on MS disclosed to me that after some struggles, he had made the decision to return to his abuser. His story, and this melody, have haunted me since.

Some members on chat have given me consistent encouragement in writing out and recording this piece. You know who you are. Thank you.

(P.S. Sorry about the poor sound quality - I'll invest in a proper mic soon.)

Hey guys, just wanted to share another piece - someone from chat recommended it to me (you know who you are - thanks!) and I got it under my fingers as quickly as I could. Sorry for the poor sound quality (it sounds like a recording from the 1930s), but I was so enthusiastic about the piece that I couldn't wait to get better equipment for it! It's a piece from one of the Final Fantasy series. Admittedly, I'm not much of a gamer, but this was, well...I guess you could call it "love at first hearing." It evokes so many memories and feelings for me - both good ones and painful ones. Anyway, I can't really put it in words, so I'll stop rambling. Hope you guys like it.

I love listening to the piano and I must confess that on those occasions I have to drive a truck, I have a fistful of piano CDs that I play. This is very nice.

You truly did a lovely job on the Final Fantasy piece. One of my all time favorite songs.

This one is dedicated to Sven. Happy 20th buddy.

I hope the title and the music speaks for itself: "Stay".

Husky, my friend, this is fantastic. You both play and compose beautifully. I am certain Sven really liked it, and I share your hope that he has a great 20th birthday.

Thanks Husk!

From musician to musician...this one's for Bey.

Recorded with the finest equipment gathered from the junkyard, hopefully the message of the musical content comes through nonetheless.

your recordings should come with tissues. you play as my heart has always wanted to but my hands have never cooperated. i feel your soul in each note, tempo, tone, volume, all masterfully worked together to carve a true work of art out of the silence. i am in awe.

Wow Mark...

I honestly don't know what to say...

It's so rare that someone "gets" it.

Just thank you. I'm really touched by the comments.

I have found that the people who "get" it are others of the same mindset. In this case music. More so for me maybe - piano music. Compositions that speak to my heart because I guess in some ways they reflect some of what I do. Or try to do. Someday when I (finally) finish my video properly - maybe I'll post it on malesurvivor too.

it's hard to find the words to thank someone when 'thank you' sounds so shallow and trite sometimes. But thank you, really. For lots of things.

Mark - I hope you do finish your video project and post it on MS. I know how hard it can be to finish things like that, and how much they can mean to you.

Bey - I'm finding it tough to find the right words as well. Maybe that's why some truths are left unspoken. Thank you as well, really. You've made a big difference in my life, and you continue to do so.

Dark times ahead of me...

Only through music can I really express how I'm feeling right now...

(((Husky)))

I am so so sorry life is dark for you right now. We often face that in life, when events overtake us and become overwhelming. Take solace in the music you create and share with us. Your playing is beautiful and it is obvious you pour your heart and soul into it. It is a beautiful expression of yourself. Thank you for the music. Keep playing.

Mike
