Please make sure you are in a safe mindset before reading this.

It details the suicide note of a young man who was sexually assaulted in college.

In those places I should’ve received help, I saw none. I suppose there are many possible reasons for this. But in the end, I’m still here and so too is that night. I hold no ill will nor do I place an iota of blame upon my family. I blame a society that remains unwilling to address sexual assault and rape. One that pays some object form of lip service to the idea of sexual crimes while working its hardest to marginalize its victims. One where the first question a college president can pose to me, regarding my own assault is, “Have you handled your drinking problem?”

I literally felt sick after reading this.

I wish there was some way he could have known that other men out there have gone through rape, as grown men.

I wish he had the opportunity to receive the support he needed from his institution and also organizations set up to help sexual assault victims. Sadly, many male ASA victims face ignorance and apathy from the very places that are set up to help.

I wish someone gave him resources to heal, before it was too late.

So very sad for such a bright young man.......and a reminder that the trauma we suffered can be deadly.

I want everyone to know that there IS help. You don't have to suffer, to be alone, or to let your life fade away....
We have to take responsibility for what we're not responsible for.

a very well written letter, a lot to think about
Once you hear the details of victory, it is hard to distinguish it from a defeat.

So True Are The Words Spoken Here Today.

Today's society is so closed minded towards rape victims to begin with and is not talked about openly.

In my opinion male on female rape is only somewhat addressed and only at the surface. We as a society will go after the male and incarcerate him for his misdeeds, and give rather little attension to the female victims. Which in and of itself is sad.

What is even more sad is that when our society is faced with "The Issue of Male on Male rape", it is so shunned that the victim is made to feel as though he was the victim and is left to suffer, and in most cases the perp is left to walk freely and society is left with this conclusion: (There was no crime here, our law enforcement opened an investigation and there must be no credible evidence, no one was brought to trial, so there was no crime here committed.)

Funny thing about this is that I seem to remember back in the 70's and early 80's that there were TV shows portraying this same sentimental value about women (male on female rape) and their rape.

I guess that it's going to take about another 30 years for society to realize that male on male rape DOES IN FACT OCCUR in our society.

Compound the statement above with these issues happening in our military, and then ask yourselves this question; How in the hell does the female victim survive serving in our Armed Forces, let alone a male victim?
Sick and tired of being Sick and tired.
