New to site, 53; with many questions. Will try to give brief background on the religious side.Raised agnostic by alcohol parents and 7 siblings, baptised methodist at 13-14 (trough boys group), strayed from church until 25 and converted to catholic to get married.after 20 years and at least 2 affairs by wife (childhood sweetheart), divorced; 2 kids 20 boy, and 23 girl who were raised Catholic( who they both cannot stand anything to do with church at this time). Returned to an Assembly of God church where I began a true relationship with god about 3-4 years ago. Shortly after began therapy and after 9 months had a very vivid vision from God where he lifted 2 crosses from my shoulders "guilt and Shame". I honestly accepted those parts of my life were gone; and still do! But....something recently has changed...My anxiety has returned; low-self esteem and on the verge of the depression returning (Off meds almost 2 yrs) and will do what ever I CAN TO KEEP IT THAT WAY; amen! Now my question is do any of you other christian men have any of the following issues or evre had( and please dont judge me; YOU CANNOT JUDGE ME ANYMORE THAN I HAVE MYSELF), Do any TRUE Christian men still have issues with SSA, Porn (gay), excessive masturbation...etc,

Oh, yes.... - in answer to your last question.

and WELCOME to MS, gtr2000.

you will find - if you look back through earlier threads in this Spirituality section - and also elsewhere - that you are not alone. many of us have lots of troubling issues. as you read, you will start to recognize which members are sincere, active, practicing Christians, others that are believers in God but not very specific as far as other details of theri faith, some who ascribe to the "Higher Power" brand from the step programs, and others who have a variety of other types of spiritual beliefs - eastern, etc. There are also many who are very triggered by talk of God or religion because of their individual abuse experiences - some in church settings, etc.

so - good that you are introducing yourself - and asking your questions here - and i'm sure you'll get multiple responses. i'll write more personally later.

How long, LORD, must I call for help, but you do not listen?
Or cry out to you, “Violence!” but you do not save?
Why do you make me look at injustice?
Why do you tolerate wrongdoing?...
Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails....

Yes to all 3, and yes, no one can judge or condemn me more than I have myself. So we're in agreement there.

I definitely qualify as an addict when it comes to pornography. I've been fighting that battle for years, but I find myself alone in that battle as far as local support goes. I've prayed about it many many times, and I know some thing that if I just pray enough it'll all go away.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm not in a similar situation like the Apostle Paul. Check out 2 Corinthians 12:1-10. Specifically verses 7 to 10. Paul had a struggle. We don't know what it was, but he asked God 3 times to take it away(I've prayed and asked far more than that) and God's reply was that "His Grace was Sufficient for him." Read the passage to get all the details (including the why part of why it wasn't taken away.)Some of the why is also in verse 7.

Anxiety is still an issue for me, but it's getting better than it used to be. Coming here is a first step. Sharing your story and beginning to work through it is a big step as well. I don't know if you've done that already through counseling or even a trusted friend, but I can say for sure, that as you work through things bit by bit, the feelings and pain and anxiety do get better with time.

Yes to all three. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to discuss the issues privately, I know a number of excellent resources for Christian men with the struggles you mention.

Brother welcome to the site. I pray for you and know your struggles all to well. Since I have been sanctified tho I have had no urge for porn. I never have been into the gay porn. It was usually straight porn for me and yea to the excessive MB. But that too was taken from me when I was santified. When these thoughts come into your head it is the devil trying to plant a seed. You can water it or you can destroy it. Although it never seems just that easy. Claim victory and rebuke the devil in Jesus name

Ephesians 6:13

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Ephesians 5:25

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
