Ok I've just started looking here and I haven't read too many posts in this section but I'm starting to think holy crap is everything caused by CSA.

So I was a sickly kid and I'm interested if anyone else had similar issues that they feel is related to their abuse. Here goes the list (I have never writen them out like this). I have also wondered if I had one of those mums that 'made' their kids sick to get attention.

I was first abused somewhere around 4-8 (still sure how old when it started)
- At 4 I was very anemic (apparently they thought I had might have had leukemia - but I didn't)

- At 6 had my tonsils out

- Constantly getting cold and flu would take me at least 2 weeks to get over

- Vision/reading problems (no glasses until a teenager) Similar to dyslexia (wouldn't have put this in the list until I read pufferfish's post)

(was being abused again from 10-12 by another perp)

- At 10 I had lower abdominal pains similar to appendicitis (they took out my appendix and it was fine) Possibly some attention seeking on my part.

- At 10 I had early onset puberty (the doctors said I was sexually 18 by 11 and sexually 25 by 12 - whatever that means) I had to start shaving at 13 and had a full beard by 15.

- Started having shortness of breath or shallow breathing (not asthma) at 12 (they said lungs too big for rib cage)

- Migranes from 12-15 I started having severe migraines

- P.A.T - I have a heart condition called P.A.T. (Paroxysmal atrial tachycardia) from 13-now (though not as bad now). My heart feels like it skips a beat and then beats really fast trying to catch up. I feel dizzy during and drained sfterwards for days.

- CFS (or M.E.) Chronic Fatigue Syndrome from 14- now (specialist said it was post viral after having glandular fever, ross river fever and 3 other viruses over a 12 month period) Starting to wonder if this was really PTSD? Had to drop out of school and everyone thought I would never be able to live a 'normal' life.

- Erectile dysfunction - As long as I can remember. For some reason I had convinced myself that it was normal not to get a solid erection and that it was just the media giving people unrealistic expectations. (even though I had obviously experienced other men's erections). When I realised it wasn't normal - myself and the urologist (I didn't tell him about abuse because I didn't think it was connected) were convinced it was physical not mental because I didn't get erections at night....but after therapy started I am now aware of solid erections in my sleep....must be mental I guess and obviously CSA related. Derrr (sorry for the gross factor but I still have to inject my penis to have sex with my wife) (Viagra gives my BAD migraines for 3 days)

- Aparently I have an Aspergers type personality. (not diagnosed)

- My 10 year old daughter is diagnosed with Aspergers, Dyslexia, Anxiety Disorder, OCD, ADD and IGA Nephropathy (kidneys). (she REALLY IS a bright and lovely girl and is not medicated at all - she just struggles socially and with writing at school and I don't think she has been abused)

Boy does this look bad when you write it all down. I do try to think of myself as a healthy person (I look healthy anyway)

Sorry it is soooo long. Please reply if you have any similar experiences.
More than meets the eye!

Well prolonged stress (and what's more stressful than being abused!) can surpress the immune system and effect aspects of development and ability to learn so that could have a knock on effect on all kinds of health problems.

We often can't be sure with a lot of things if they would have happened anyway or not but I'm certain it doesn't help even with things that aren't actually CAUSED by it.

I also wanted to say on the subject of ME - I have ME too and have known many many survivors who have got that or fibro which is very similar. I'm almost certain it can be connected somehow.

Farmer Boy,

I was also abused at 4 and 12 and several other ages, by different perps.

The abuse at 4 was in the making of kiddie porn, and the abuse at 12 was sadistic sexual abuse, etc.

My symptom list is very similar to yours, and I guess it is as long.

Some things on my list are opposite to yours. I was late in development. I hit puberty (or it hit me smile ) at 14 1/2.

My tooth development halted after sever abuse. At 14 I still had the teeth of an 11 year old.

I think that most of us here in MS suffer from a stress syndrome which affects our hormones and entire endocrine system. I have suspected that I have chronic fatigue. My doctor recently found in blood tests that I have very low thyroid and testosterone (male hormone) levels. I am getting medication for these conditions.

You may very well have dissociative disorder from early abuse. That's what I have. It causes headaches. Nearly every day I have headaches.

I have not been diagnosed with Asperger's, but in an MMPI test I took it said that I was somewhat schizoid. This does NOT mean schizophrenic. It means the same thing I believe you mean by 'Asperger's - like syndrome'.

I was thinking about this Farmer and I don't know if these are related or not. But the headaches I get at times just so happen when I am depressed and when I get depressed I feel stressed. My body is a broken shell from so many surgeries and injuries that are wreck and stress related. I have been blessed with great vision and hearing. Alot of these health CSA issues , in my opinion, some anyway may come from our feeling unworthy and less than trash.
Ephesians 6:13

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Ephesians 5:25

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her

Hey Lee! I'll share something that amazed me the past couple of weeks, though I know well the mind/body connection Country alludes to, particularly with stress.

I've had a rough few months as I started to deal specifically with the CSA for the first time in my life. For one, I'm an outdoorsy type. No real back problems except from the gym, and could usually stretch those out on a door frame or use the massage therapist. Boy, did that change. The worst, most debilitating lower back pain I've ever had in my life which even forced me to use painkillers. Not an addict, but I hate what the shit does to my head.

In the past two weeks I've made some breakthroughs in therapy. Last week was a particularly rough session, but I noticed that evening the pain had simply disappeared. Easier session this week, some tension, but again, I noticed the pain was gone.

To answer your question mate, it seemed like a direct connection to me.

This is on back pain.

I have posted on how my abuser "brain-washed" me with a knife to my chest: 'Never tell....if you ever tell, I'll find you and kill you...'

Fairly soon after I remembered that abuse, I wrote out a transcript of it which became pufferfish story part 5.

I was on the way to give testimony about this abuse for the first time. I had to take flights to Washington D.C. I developed horrible back pains. They were so bad I could barely walk. I had to ask for a wheel chair to make my flight connection in Charlotte.

As soon as my testimony was over, the back pain started to decrease. Within 15 minutes it was gone. The next day I walked all over the city in fair weather.

As it turns out, stress can set off lots of conditions. I can't say for sure, but while Iw as abused I tended to have a greater problem with sports-related asthma and other problems such as a worsening in vision. Think of it this way: if a body doesn't have a way to cope with all the stress, it's sort of like an engine with a low oil level-- everything's going to work harder and run down faster to compensate.

As far as early puberty, it potentially could be to do with hormonal shifts being kick-started at an odd age.

As far as I go, I had 2 perps. One when I was 3-4, the other 9-12. I had a problem with asthma as I mentioned, but also had stuttering, dyslexia (undiagnosed until last year) and fairly early onset puberty around the age of 10 or 11.

A lot of time too, when growing up I would have odd referred or sort of unexplained pains that suddenly made more sense when I could sort of connect them with actions people had done-- such as lower back pain or abdominal pain when I was younger. So partially it could have been some subconcious "somatic" problems alongside the stress-induced issues.
