Hey everyone, I'm new here so having a look around and trying to get a hang of things.

Without going into all the details, I'm 25 years old and about 3 years ago I went through 2 seperate assaults from strangers, only a couple of months apart.

I ended up with a lot of problems with depression, stress, drinking/drugs, self harm, etc. But I finished up with therapy over a year ago now and I'm a different person now. It's weird how what happened actually turned me into a better person.

I'm not really here looking for support because I'm happy now, but more like maybe wanting to talk to people who've been through similar things and to hear their stories smile

Welcome to Male survivors versailles,
I'm sorry to hear that you've had such terrible experience, but it is great to hear that you went trough therapy and now feeling good. Being part of this community helps me a lot. There are a lot of different ways to connect to others here: trough regular posting/commenting, talking in chat room, or trough personal messages, just take some time and look what suites use you the best.
We have part of board for men assaulted as adults , it seems like population of abused adult men here is smaller comparing to those abused as child so also I encourage you to comment and share your experience and knowledge with brothers there.
Be well!

Hey, thanks for the messages guys.

I've been reading around the forums a bit to see what it's like, but I'm sure I'll start posting more once I've got a feel for it.

Hey, thanks for sharing that. My closest friends know about the things I've been through and they've been good about it, but I don't really know anyone with personal experience with this sort of thing. Glad to hear you're doing good though.

A lot of my issues were things I was struggling with before the assault and they just got a lot worse after. It was kind of weird how the recovery I went through ended up healing pretty much everything 'bad' about me, and I'm really grateful for that.

Haha yeah I'm really looking forward to the new Assassin's Creed game too. I've been catching up on a couple that I missed and I'm a bit of the way into Revelations just now.
