Deep in the forest sings a sparrow
The song is light
      and full of life
It pierces the morning mist like a hot poker
Yet falls soothing on the ear
          like gentle rain

One day a young boy captures the sparrow
And takes it home to live in a cage
The song becomes muted and quiet
      yet can be heard
    During those moments
              the bird feels safe

But the child has anger
      and beats at the cage
            terrorizing the small bird
Frantically she screams and flutters against the bars
Until she stays quietly in a corner
      Fearful for her life

Bored, the boy leaves the room
not noticing the open cage door
In less than an instant the sparrow frees herself
            flies out an open window
and into the depths of the forest once again

The sun sets, casting its crimson glory over the clouds
      That linger near the horizon
And if youre quiet
    and listen carefully
You will hear the song of the sparrow once again
      as if the day
            had never been

happy ending for a sparrow
because the sparrow doesn't hold the trauma

too bad we're not sparrow's

pretty sad when you realize how far off that freedom we truly are.

totally great poem... i like how the sparrow can fly away and still sing and the sparrow can show the signs of no trauma that happened to it. Awesome job!
