This may be the best birthday present ever!
I wrote a letter to a youth advice columnist in the Boston area, Ask Beth, which is published in the Boston Globe (they say it's also syndicated, but I really don't know about that). I told my story in abbreviated form, and mentioned Malesurvivor.org to get the word out. Imagine my surprise and shock to see my letter in the column today!
Anyone interested in reading it can go to http://www.boston.com/news/globe/living/articles/2003/12/04/male_abuse_victims_need_more_help/
(whew! That was a keyboardful!).
I hope it helps others. I know it helped me. I'm not hiding anymore. I have nothing to be ashamed about. I am LIVING with the abuse and I have NOTHING to be ashamed about. None of us do!
Be proud of yourselves, brothers and sisters. We are not being beaten by the abusers. WE are beating THEM! WE are healing the damage done to us. HEALING!
Peace and love, my brothers!
