"I want to offer a sincere thanks to all the victims in this case who came forward to bravely testify in this trial," Kelly said. "And to finally put a stop to the crimes that have been committed by this defendant."
Kelly credited the work of investigators and the performance of a prosecution team led by Joseph McGettigan and Frank Fina. But most of all, she gave credit to victims who have shared their stories throughout the state's investigation.
"They have shown strength and courage during this investigation, candidly and sometimes chillingly sharing their stories, not only to a jury and a packed courtroom, but also to the entire world," Kelly said.
"It was incredibly difficult for some of them to unearth buried memories of the shocking abuse they suffered. Most of us cannot possibly fully comprehend what they testified."
"My experience has shown me that I all too often tend to deny that which lies behind, but as I still believe, that which is denied cannot be healed." Brennan Manning, "All is Grace - A Ragamuffin Memoir"
