Someone posted this on my Facebook page--I thought it was so touching and telling. As a victim and survivor I understand the last three lines all too well. No one really knows us, how we think, how we act, why we act the way we do--it is not right but the bullying we endured tainted us for a lifetime. It is not until we begin to heal can anyone know us. Anyone who has been bullied, young or old, will understand.

The boy you punched in the hall today.
Committed suicide a few minutes ago.
That girl you called a slut in class today.
She’s a virgin. The boy you called lame.
He has to work every night to support his family.
That girl you pushed down the other day.
She is already being abused at home
That girl you called fat.
She’s starving herself.
That old man you made fun of because of the ugly scars.
He fought for our country.
The boy you made fun of for crying.
His mother is dying.
You think you know them.
Guess what?
You don’t.

But if people knew would it make a difference? someone is different, not part of the crowd, and after all it was only a joke, and what's wrong with jokes right, after all you weren't really! trying to hurt someone were you?

I doubt that any of the people involved in my abuse even remember what they did or particularly care, sinse it was only a joke after all.

What happened to us not only affects both us and our family then.

It more so affects us later in life when we should be behaving as young adults/adults. It's then that we start having problems that we don't relate back to the abuse we suffered as kids (if we ever do put 2 and 2 together).

One of my siblings who was also abused by our sperm provider ended up on a suicide watch because of what that b@$!@rd did to her.

We know that at least 1 more and probably 2 of us who were abused by "it" and have had serious problems because of the abuse we suffered years ago.
I will mourn the teenager I never was and strive to make that dot of light way out in the far reaches of the end of the tunnel turn into a bright sun.
