Actually, just about every guy I've met on MS is willing to help others, even just by listening. If you don't want to chat openly, there are a few options here.
You could do a 'search' of profiles, peruse them and try sending a private message to them to initiate a conversation.
Or, if you click and go into 'chat,' you can tag your screen name (under "Options") and click "busy" or "away." Then you can watch the conversation and see if anyone there at the moment is someone you'd feel comfortable talking with. You can then private message them from within the chat window to initiate a private conversation live.
Or, you could try one of the "Healing Circle" private group chats.
Or, if you'd like a personal introduction to someone, send me a private message and ask if I'm acquainted with them here. I'll introduce you two.
Or, you can send me a message to talk.
Hope that helps... and these suggestions go out to anyone who may find this thread and this post.
I have taken to the stand-up comedy stage to educate other male survivors and those who try to love them. I blog about my isolated religious upbringing where physical and sexual abuse were commonplace and I serve as a facilitator of a weekly support group for men who have suffered sexual assault.
