The Smell of Leather

Its arms - cool leather, slightly worn, soft and inviting
A purpose place to rest arms, settle down and lean back
Enveloped, comfort found within its wrinkling hide
Its fragrence calming, disarming, enhancing a myth
Trusting intergreties of both its creator and its inviter
A mistake, Iíll never make - again.

Hey Earl,
that smell is spreading from your poem and going trough some wires and laptop-screen coming directly to me. It is scary!
Don't make that mistake ever again smile!!!

I'll have to read this a few times but it seems to me your talking about a misplaced trust. In my experience it parallels grooming.

Thanks guys. A leather chair played a role in my rape. Itís strange what things remain fuzy about that event and other seemingly unimportant items, like a harmless chair, are stark reminders and are as if they were in your life for the purpose of pricking your skin. I own a leather chair, have for about five years and last night I was sitting across the room from it lost in its shapes - shapes that played a role in shaping my future hence the poem.
