Hi All,

I post here about an acquaintance of mine. He has two distinct moods and they don't care much for each other. I recently gave him the book "Fractured Mind." He read it right away, and we agreed it was a good, interesting, book.

He said he wasn't ready for the stage that fellow reached in the book.

On Friday, he explained to me why he hasn't had his alter speak to his therapist he's been seeing for a few years, a female, an older lady. He says it will be embarassing to let him talk. He didn't say why, but I assume it's because the alter wants to be feminine. He said he's going to try to find a specialist, a man.

So I specifically mentioned this site as a way to perhaps find a specialist, but he said she could refer him. He REALY seems to want to avoid this site.

Anyway, he is progressing, it's just really slow.

Hi Disappointed
Split Personality is an incredibly scary topic, as I'm sure you have seen. Not to many people rushing to answer this post.
It is however an incredibly fascinating STRENGTH of mind that brings about this type of phenomenon. It is the most intricate of survival skills that bring this into play. It takes an incredibly skilled therapist to treat this, and should be handled with great care.
I don't know if your friend has a split personality or DID, dissociative disorder, either way it essentially means that he went through a lot. Blessings to you for helping him through this, and tread gently.

Heal well, Both of you

Hi Martin,

I know I might seem strange, but I don't find his split personality a scary topic at all. As a matter of fact, it seems almost second nature to me, because it is so obvious in his dealings with me, it feels very natural dealing with two people.

What he suffered is scary!

Turns out, I misunderstood him. He's reading the book slowly because it's intense for him. Of course for me, it wasn't intense at all, just interesting.

Also, I've seen again a habit he has: Turns out, he had decided to change therapists earlier this year, and he has already got a new therapist he's been seeing for 2 months, that specializes in... okay, I forgot to ask what the speciality was. Child abuse or split personalities.....?

Anyway, I see him do that sometimes. He'll tell me he's going to do something that he has already done. It's as though he's not sure he wants to tell me something, and he wants to weigh it before he does, so he tells me a story until he makes his decision.

Anyway, he's getting better, but I'm bowing out. Just nothing here for me. I've helped. I'm done. I like hanging around here, though, and when I have time, encouraging the guys.

Thanks for your comments, Martin. Welcome as always!
