There are some songs i like that i feel really describe the whole experience of the survivor in recovery

Reality by Staind...first verse+chorus describing dissociation
"the lights are on but you're not home, you've drifted off,
somewhere alone, somewhere that's safe, no questions here,a quiet place where you hide from your fears.....sometimes when you're out of rope ,the way to climb back up's unclear ,the walls you build around yourself, i guess they also keep you here, are you afraid of what they think? ,whoever "they" happen to be, or are you hiding from the scars of your own reality?"

Somewhere i belong-Linkin Park 1st and 3rd Verse+Chorus
"When this began,I had nothing to say,And I get lost in the nothingness inside of me,I was confused,And I let it all out to find, That I'm not the only person with these things in mind...I will never know myself, until I do this on my own, And I will never feel,Anything else, until my wounds are healed...
I wanna heal, I wanna feel,What I thought was never real,I wanna let go of the pain I've felt so long,Erase all the pain till its gone,I wanna heal, I wanna feel,Like I'm close to something real,I wanna find something I've wanted all along,
Somewhere I belong"

Anybody else have any songs they feel really capture the survivor recovery experiences?

This guy has talked to me since the very end of my abuse. Lots of nights spent as a teenager down in Asbury Park NJ ridng the Circuit, watching Madame Marie telling fortunes better than they do, and hanging at the Stone Pony hoping to see him play. This ain't my favorite tune (THUNDEROAD) but the lyrics are on point. So much of what he writes sounds of surviving and recovery.

Mister I ain't a boy, no I'm a man
And I believe in a promised land

The Promised Land
Bruce Springsteen

On a rattlesnake speedway in the Utah desert
I pick up my money and head back into town
Driving cross the Waynesboro county line
I got the radio on and I'm just killing time
Working all day in my daddy's garage
Driving all night chasing some mirage
Pretty soon little girl I'm gonna take charge

The dogs on Main Street howl
'cause they understand
If I could take one moment into my hands
Mister I ain't a boy, no I'm a man
And I believe in a promised land

I've done my best to live the right way
I get up every morning and go to work each day
But your eyes go blind and your blood runs cold
Sometimes I feel so weak I just want to explode
Explode and tear this whole town apart
Take a knife and cut this pain from my heart
Find somebody itching for something to start

There's a dark cloud rising from the desert floor
I packed my bags and I'm heading straight into the storm
Gonna be a twister to blow everything down
That ain't got the faith to stand its ground
Blow away the dreams that tear you apart
Blow away the dreams that break your heart
Blow away the lies that leave you nothing but lost and brokenhearted

The dogs on Main Street howl
'cause they understand
If I could take one moment into my hands
Mister I ain't a boy, no I'm a man
And I believe in a promised land

"You can get far in life by pushing except through a door marked PULL...." Profile quote in my son's senior year HS Yearbook.
