I do have a lot of respect for you as a friend that you're able to talk to me even though I'm in the teaching profession (or at least used to be). I hate seeing the consequences of the avoidances you describe. My wife won't go to therapy because she was raped by a therapist... you missed out on an education, not to mention the isolation a lot of us go through as a result of not being able to trust others. But it's true, there is a false sense of security in avoiding these places because if there is anything we can learn by being part of this MS community, it is that sexual abuse can affect men from a wide variety of walks of life. There are a lot of men here I would never have had any reason to meet because of the different worlds we inhabit, but we all have this one painful thing in common.
