I am not sure if this is the proper place to post this but I am not sure where else it would fit.

I will probably be leaving MS even though I have not been here for a long time. There are too many posts and too much discussion in chat that praises Oprah for exploiting us for her own aggrandizement. Having her or anyone like her such as Jerry Springer, Maury Povich, etc put our plight on tv isn't helping us at all, its hurting our cause and nobody cares. They praise her for exploiting us. I just can't take it anymore. It has me extremely depressed. I just have to get away from it.

Hi Chuck,

There are hundreds of posts here that don't discuss Oprah-
I've ignored most of the Oprah posts to seek out what is helpful for me and my recovery.

I invite you to do the same.

I appreciate the support. I feel like something is just going to blow up in my face. I was here the other day and I just felt like everything was closing in on me.

well chuck noone is praising her

if someone went to the show seeing and being with 200 male survivors is an experience if it is not helping us or not

it is an experience many have had, and it has brought many men here

The main thing is we wanted to talk with you in Chat we want to be there for you. So come join us sometime.

Missed not having you in chat.

What ever out thought on Ms O

that is not a reason to leave

for one if u take the total posts vs any that have O in them
it is less than .5 %

sorry u were seening a lot of posts with O in them I am not seeing that

and I reply all the time to posts

if you see one again just click out and not read it

and honestly we do not know oprahs intentions
sometimes females do have our best intrests at hand

and sometimes our abuse can cloud the issues at hand

What I wish for you my new friend is pease love and healing

Michael joseph

Chuck,

I'm not a big Oprah fan...However

The second show was really good, and helped people ( like my family) understand a few things they would not have gotten had it not been for the show.

I dont agree with everthing, and blah blah blah, but there was a lot of good informaton there.

I know some of those 200 men, took a lot of courage to get there, and Im thankful they went as it helps the cause.

One final note about this that came from a discussion with a friend on just this topic....Bunch a years ago Oprah had a guest on air named Mike Lew....because of that show "Victims No Longer" was written...I'm willing to give her and the sensationalized world of TV (of which I once worked) a small pass. This whole greater good thing happens upon my brain...and I think of that...How many men have been helped because of that moment...that sensationalized moment...helped save many, 1000's of men.

Oprahs intentions are fairly stragiht forward...ratings and money...sometimes good comes from that..we just goota look at it from a different angle.

Now lets get Ken and "Evicting the Perp" out into the spotlight...cause we could all use a good eviction wink

Just .02...as stated above..I havent heard anybody discuss Oprah in chat in quite soome time.

Were here if and when you need us.

H

It's the audience I see as the focal point in the big picture. Oprah's audience is an good place to start.
In October 2008 I was invited to be part of one of Dr. Micheal H. Stone's programs "Most Evil". I declined explaining his audience was attracted to horror and terrorizing evil people and I refuse to be an exhibit. If he wanted to do a show about survivors I'd be happy be part of that.
I sure do hope because a survivor feels exploited or exposed it does not drive them into isolation.

very good point M...Buck! We have to concentrate on the things and people that support our recovery rather than the speedbumps and walls that hinder it.
