Hi guys,

It's now offically 2003. I'm looking forward to it. Last year had been almost too much for me. I'm facing another cancer surgery in a couple of weeks. I'm scared but I'm hopeful. I just finished a book 'It's Not About The Bike' by Lance Armstrong. He had cancer a lot worse and survived and won the Tour de France. It's an inspirational book for me. I needed that right now.

To all you guys here, best wishes for the new year.

Steve

I'm sending healing thoughts and support your way. Please do keep on posting here and letting us know how it's going. Nothing like having the support of the men here. It's better to face up to overwhelming crap together as a group than to do it alone I we had to in the past. As you're climbing that mountain in the Tour de France, I'm cheering you on every step (peddle?) of the way!

Peace to all this new year.

hello ALL. Yes it is 2003 and I AM VERY HAPPY, that the holidays are over!!! Reading the posts for the past two weeks DO SHOW many others feel the same way as I do. To us survivors we have already had enough hassels to deal with, without having to again go over what we went through.
Smile, it doesn't really hurt and it DOES HELP. Bosishere \:\) ;\)

Hi Steve,

As I am sure you know, attitude is soooo important in fighting carcinoma. Keep positive and imagine the med and your inner spirit eating up those cancer cells like the old pac-man game. It works.

Much peace and courage to you.

Bob

In many ways this has been a difficult year for both of us. But one high point in it for me was getting to know you. You have my prayers and my friendship.

I know that I must carry the best of 2002 into 2003. Yes, it's a new year for us with all the hope it brings of renewal, but also today, January 2, 2003 is a new day. I will try to stay present to that idea.

((((((((happy 2nd of January)))))))))

Hi Steve,

Happy New Year to you! I also am looking forward to 2003. 2002 was a rough year. I will keep you in my prayers. Keep a positive attitude and you will pull through.

I have also read the book. It is very inspirational. I have been following cycling since Greg Lemond and when Lance came on the scene, he was an arrogant kid. The fight from cancer has definitely changed him for the better in all aspects. It does motivate you when you see what he went through, survived and then thrived. The only problem I had with the book was seeing how important family and friends are to your survival. I wish I had a 1/10th of his support from family dealing with my past.

Mike

Thanks to all of you, you're better than family. My family is still in turmoil and I really don't have the emotional energy to deal with it right now. There was another round of layoffs at work but I'm still employed and have insurance so that's a plus. I don't want to seem selfish but it's taking all I have right now to just focus on my work so that the money keeps coming in, plan for the surgery and the recuperation, and accept the fact that I've done everything that I could possibly do and the end result is out of my hands. I hate the idea of helplessness, that's not who I am anymore.

I've got my pre-op stuff to do next week with the surgery the following week and I am keeping a positive attitude. Thanks again for the encouragement and support.

Steve
