I've had the pleasure of listening to both my father's and my grandmother's upbringing and I can say that even though I gre up in the 70's with no internet or satellite TV that I was still prviledged compared to thier eras. My dad came from a family of 8 kids and didn't see a TV set until he was around 10. Even then they only got 2 channels, one in English, the other in french, each of which brodcasted maybe 6 hours a day. His mother, my grandmother came from a family of 16 kids and grew up on a farm and had to make their own entertainment, providing there was time for it. They produced almost everything they needed to live on that farm and maybe went to town once a year to buy what they couldn't grow. Such a change 100 years makes in the way we live eh?

This goes back to the late 60's but did any of you watch Ultra-man? A cheesey japanese afternoon show that him fighting godzilla type of creatures. He could fly and shot like a lazer out of his hand. Or Speed racer?

Gotta jump on the BOTP(Keyop says "Droot-doot: G-Force!") and Star Blazers wagon... right up there with Shogun Warriors and Green Machines for who was the cool kid on the block ;-)

Used to see once in a while a really cheesy show called "Kimba the White Lion". Another was "Gigantor" some sort of "space age robot. I am a lot older than most of you so I;m doing out on a limb here : Planet Patrol. Or Rocky Jones. Your Show of Shows or Texaco Star Theater.

I recently watched the Robotech saga on Hulu... it was awesome. I'm looking for a place that has Star Blazers. Anyone know where it can be found?

First time I can think of ever reading this thread. I'm 39.
Well, even then what you guys talk about doesn't surprise me. I remember walking in one instance 2-1/2 miles one way to a job I spent usually 2-3 hours at, irrigating a field. I'd walk it in my knee boots. I used to put the boots on a pack frame and wear tennis shoes there, but I found that ants would find their way into my shoes when I left them with the pack while irrigating. Can't always shake them all out, and they'd bite. Bad deal. Anyhow, I used to do that for $5, then the next year it went to $10. No year 3 as the guy died and his kids sold the property.

I used to go around town and pick up litter. Just to make it look better. To make a "full round" of the town would be 5-1/2 miles. I never could do it in one day. Collect & sell the cans and beer bottles & then we always burned our garbage, so it'd get burned with it.
