Oh great, for Kiwi's they have to submit to a mental illness diagnosis before they will be covered for treatment beyond a couple consultations.

ACC Mentality: We can make the growing number of sexual abuse/assault survivors go away if we can dissuade people from coming forward for the help they need. Just think of all the money we'd save.

I'd like to see which direction suicide rates go after this policy went into effect.

Thanks for sharing this Dale.

Not only will they save money, but also by doing this many people will not come forward and the amount of people reporting csa will drop.

Saving money and they can also say the fight against csa is working, just look at the drop in people reporting it.

Seems we are a nasty dirty secret they wish would go away..

yes Mike no one ever does, except when it hits the headlines and the country goes into shock and horror mode.

Then all kinds of people stand up and say something must be done. Then the politicians rant and rave about saving the children. When they do this they might as well have a T shirt saying " vote for me".
We get a few programs on tv and bits in the paper about csa, but it always seems to concentrate on girls being abused.
Then about a week late it vanishes, until election time.

I don't see how they can call it mental illness, how in the hell is it a mental illness, it is just things in your mind that you have to work through.

Calling going through therapy for abuse you suffered a mental illness is like saying somebody who has to complete a maths test and study for it has a mental illness!

The world is getting dumber and dumber!

This is both upsetting and Scary, especially if the USA is gonna go public with healthcare. What if the US government also decides to "cut costs" in this way?

This is bull shit!!!

Thanks for that Dale. Scary stuff indeed...

Its similar to the Probation and Parole situation here. If a man on Probation or Parole discloses that he was abused, a shit storm erupts, including a call to the Police, as if the guy automagically becomes a perp. Sure cuts down the disclosures!
