I am in a recovery group and as part of my healing I have written my testimony. Doing the mental research was/is helping me deal with all of my past. I want to share it with my group and hopefully will someday, but if I NEVER share it,it was worth the tears it brought. Anyone have any thoughts about writing a testimony? Good idea or Bad? Public or Not?

I think it's good and I think the point of a testimony is to share it.

Mine, at it is at this point in time, without nasty details can be found in my sig at at the bottom of this post. I shared it with my church, who tapes their services, so I inturn put it on youtube.

I think writing our testimonies not only helps us in recovery, but when appropriately shared (being sensitive to the audience) can help others who are struggling with resolving the same issues.

In general, I find writing out the things that are churning within me, helps me process and sort through the thoughts. I went through a period a couple of years ago where I poured myself, my hopes, fears and desire for recovery into daily emails to trusted survivors. It was incredibly freeing.

Hi all,

If the word testimonies, is the same as journaling it. (please forgive this old GED) high school class of '58 grad. Then every day since the start of that WOR in Georgia last month I have been writing down my feelings and emotions every day.

It helps me to better understand little Peter more and more, as we work our way from the darkness into the sunshine.

Heal well, my brothers/friends.
