Strange adventure softly singing,
Wordless songs without a tune,
Twilit, twilit, twilit, tune,

as with tears his eyes are stinging,
Silvered with the light of moon,
Midnight, midnight, midnight moon.

Singer holds a candle gleaming,
Yet of sunlight here he's dreaming,
What are dreams but tears streaming,
Only phantoms in the gloom,

Glimmer, glimmer, glimmer gloom.

Strange adventure with persistance,
on he walks through day or night,
nearly, nearly, nearly night.

Without hope against resistance,
Forth and back the endless fight,

Fearless, fearless, fearless fight.

though for love he's ever sighing,
Tears of christal ever crying,
Yet he fights the foe undying,

Shadowed creatures out of sight,

Sightless, sightless sightless sight.

Strange adventure ever wandering,
On a road he walks alone,

Always, always, all alone.

Beyond comfort shadows sundering,
Even in the light of sun,
shining, shining, shining sun.

Fool that endless lessons learning,
Tortured by an endless yearning,
Yet he seaks a last returning,
To a love that once was known,
Never, never, never soon.

I'm really sorry, I'm ripping off someone else's structure again, ---- this time the quintet from Yomen of the guard.

I don't know why I heard it tonight at rehearsal, (admittedly with different words), and it had quite an affect.

I came in, cried a bit, and then this just about wrote itself.

Though it probably won't be anything like the same without sullivan's music (it is a particularly nice quintet), I'll post the original words down here, ---- though as I said, our director has completely rewritten the words for the production we're doing (which uses songs from various Gilbert and sullivan operettas with different words).

Strange adventure! Maiden wedded
To a groom she's never seen--
Never, never, never seen!
Groom about to be beheaded,
In an hour on Tower Green!
Tower, Tower, Tower Green!
Groom in dreary dungeon lying,
Groom as good as dead, or dying,
For a pretty maiden sighing--
Pretty maid of seventeen!
Seven-- seven-- seventeen!

Strange adventure that we're trolling:
Modest maid and gallant groom--
Gallant, gallant, gallant groom!--
While the funeral bell is tolling,
Tolling, tolling, Bim-a-boom!
Bim-a, Bim-a, Bim-a-boom!
Modest maiden will not tarry;
Though but sixteen year she carry,
She must marry, she must marry,
Though the altar be a tomb--
Tower-- Tower-- Tower tomb!

Yes, but I thought you really owned the piece and turned it into something uniquely your own. It's interesting to see how someone else's creativity can so often provide a vital spark for our own.

Much love,

Nobody living can ever stop me
As I go walking my freedom highway.
Nobody living can make me turn back:
This land was made for you and me.
