Yesterday my best friend, who I havenít seen in over two-years, and I went riding. We share a bond that many never know. Doing the cycling, we have picked one another up from a wreck and nursed each other home. We have endured freezing together, hurting together, and the thrill of victory together. Now there is nothing between us.

As we rode along, we began talking of our wives, and how we struggled with sex. I hadnít planned on telling him, but it just came out. Naturally, he didnít fully understand until we talked more. Everyone seems to think that what happened when you were four or five shouldnít affect your adult life, and he was no different. In the end, I think he finally understood how it could.

We talked a lot, rode slowly, and enjoyed our reunion. It felt good, like being free after being held in a cage for two years. No women, no kids, no home or troubles, just two friends riding along still country roads, talking and laughing. God, I thank you for that day. I needed it.

What you did my brother was huge. You bonded with an old friend and were comfortable in each other's space and talked freely as we all want to. God it is good to hear happy stories.

Ya, Z,

I gotta get me a hobby, sport, interest like that. My wife and I walk 3 miles, 5 to 6 times a week, but I'm talking about what you did, with a friend. At first I thought that you were talking about motorcycles, which I have owned, but that certainly wouldn't be condusive for talking.
I do have a buddy that lives about 150 miles away and we each drive halfway to meet for lunch about three or four times a year. That's not often enough for real friendship, you know, being able to help work through some of life's problems.

Your time with your friend sounded idylic.

Power and strength for more of those, for all of us,

I'm very lucky that I work with my best friend, we've known each other nearly 30 years and have worked together for 25 of them.
Most days we get to partner up and ride around in the van together, sometimes we even do some work

He had a divorce from hell at the same time I was in therapy, my early stages.
And the stuff we shared would have driven most people away I'm sure.

And we still share stuff, sometimes in a way that might seem completly off the wall, but it works.
He once asked how I was feeling, and I said "like shit" And I explained that I was having a day where the flashbacks were coming thick and fast, and I was fantasizing badly in an attempt to dissasociate from them.

"Usual fantasy ?" he asked "Yes." I replied.
"Well, you're not giving me a f****g blow job, so just drive instead !"

There's no answer to that is there. But my day got better very quickly after that vote of confidence.

It's good to have someone who you have NO secrets from, the trust between us is worth everything to us both.

thanks guys..

i've made a few close friends in life, but this one is closer than most because of all the hours we spent training and racing together. along the way, i've learned that the greatest thing in life isnt the things we get or have, but the people we share it with. yes, my wife and kids are great, but those few close friends are worth just as much in my eyes. i will tell him things i would never admit to my wife, and i know things about him that i am certain his wife doesnt.

i wish all of you a happy journey, take care...
