My spirituality comes from many sources but the common thread in spirituality for me is acts of kindness and living with regard to all living things. It is not just about your God or higher power necessarily but God or the universe is an integral part.
Having said that, I want to mention how powerful loving, kindness and a generous spirit are some common threads I see in spirituality. I recently watched the film documentary of Father Mychal Judge the Jesuit Franciscan who ministered to the NYFD and the poor in NYC. You may recall he was killed in the 9/11 attack. He is the quintessential modern day man of Christ and an example of spiritual practice. We heard about him during those horrible days. And then he faded from the radar.
I strongly recommend renting the film called Saint of 9/11. It is a great story about a very spiritual man who walked the walk. Here is a link to see the movie free on line. There seems to be 6 minutes edited out but the essence of the story will surely be there. I suggest allowing the film to buffer and pause it for about 4 minutes before attempting to watch it or it will start and stop. I rented it on line. I hope others will enjoy this beautiful example of humanity.http://www.snagfilms.com/films/watch/saint_of_911/
