MARSHFIELD, Mo. -- A husband and wife are accused of smoking marijuana and watching pornography with their teenage son. A judge issued warrants for the arrests of the couple from Rogersville.

Caterine Carson and Lee Murdock face several charges, including endangering the welfare of a child. The Webster County prosecuting attorney says her office found out about the parents' actions while detectives were investigating allegations that the teenage son molested at least three young children.

During the investigation, detectives say they found out the boy is a victim of his own parents. According to court documents, Carson and Murdock admitted that they smoked marijuana with their son. Detectives also say they admitted watching child and adult porn with him, and having child porn on the family computer.

The prosecutor says the boy is in state custody and receiving a lot of counseling. She can't say whether he will face charges in Juvenile Court.

They sure screwed this kid up, not only he abused, the parents had him watch kiddie porn at a impressionable age and now his actions reflect it. Plus they got him hooked on pot, so he'll probably turn into a drug addict trying to numb his feelings.

Hopefully though he gets the help he needs now instead of things getting worse. That was not a cool thing for parents to do, but if things are done right and are well received, he has a chance to turn this around. Unfortunately things have already happened that he will have to live with (as will those that were hurt), but at least this was caught at an earlier age and could have escalated into much worse things I think.

Loc: sorry, but I don't say on the ...
That reminds me of a camp I worked at where we had a camper who used to, for lack of a better expression "show his affection" towards the older female staff frequently. Come to find out his parents allowed him to watch pornography with them. He was only 7 or 8. I will never be able to understand why people do this to their own children.

As far as the pot, smoking pot with your own children is not kosher, but I have never ever seen or met a single person who was ever addicted to marijuana, and I feel like the inclusion of that into the news article is just another way for the media to try to demonize a drug that is helpful to quite a few people. That's just my personal opinion though. I no longer use pot myself, and I certainly don't believe anybody who isn't old enough to drink should smoke pot either. I disagree with it being addictive. I quit cold turkey without any cravings to continue smoking after a period of my life where I would smoke 1/8 to 1/4 of an ounce a week with my friends, simply because we were bored. I know many other people who were much more habitual and severe smokers who kicked the habit easily and haven't gone back. I will definitely agree that it is habit forming, but I wouldn't call it addictive.

Anyways, I suppose that's all off topic, and it's just my opinion. I do agree that by smoking pot with the kid they were probably enforcing the idea that self medication is ok, which it definitely is not.
