My birth-father contacted me about 13 years ago to tell me that his son, my half brother had died in his sleep of a congenital heart defect; he was 24. He searched me out just to tell me this so I would get myself checked out. I mentioned it to my doctor at the time who dismissed the information as not important. I knew he was being a stupid old codger who didn't take seriously the fact that women can have heart problems too, but in spite of what I "knew" I dismissed it too. I think about it now and then, tell myself I should have the test, but as I sit here, I still haven't done it. I would counsel anyone else to get the test immediately - I think I should take my own advice. frown
