It smells and reeks
It rots
It's what's thrown away
Left alone to fester all the day
Yet it has value,
for those that know how
They use it for fuel
It's a useful tool
In the past it's what I thought I was...
Now I know better
Garbage is useful, it can help others
No so for me
Quiet and alone. Silent and lost.
I'll always be.

I like that analogy, but I'm hoping you haven't given up hope! There were years where I had no hope, but I found my way. We are here to help you find your way the best we can.

Peace and love...

Rubbish (sorry Scott, couldn't resist taking artistic license) \:\)

Thanks for sharing yours with us

This may be difficult to see at the moment, but this is an important step forward. In order to heal we first have to recognize and "own" the problems and issues that confront us. I hope you can look at this one and tell yourself that if this is how you feel, that doesn't at all mean that this is who you really are. Healing is all about discovering how false the lessons were that abuse taught us when we were defenseless kids.

Much love,

Nobody living can ever stop me
As I go walking my freedom highway.
Nobody living can make me turn back:
This land was made for you and me.
(Woody Guthrie)

Hi, Scott.

I have read your poem several times now yesterday and today. It is hard for me to respond. Mostly it makes me feel quiet and sad. I know that alone feeling, even when others are around. Nothing more I can say except...

Wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
About a home Ill never see

It may sound absurd...but dont be naive
Even heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed...but wont you concede
Even heroes have the right to dream
Its not easy to be me

honestly, i don't quite know how to react to your honesty.

despair and hope all wrapped up in one big feeling.

you are not the garbage.
someone gave you a pile of garbage.
you are not the debris.
someone dumped their debris on you.

none of those words apply to you, me, or any other brother survivor.

a diamond tossed in the trash is not rubbish.
gold coins in a ditch are not mud.

shine on.
