On July 2nd I got a request on YouTube to participate in a collab video on the subject of “What do you believe?” The teenager who started the thing asked others to list three things they believe in –anything at all – and then end by saying: “I believe in you, I believe in me.” Here’s his original video starting the whole thing off:

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to participate since I’m not know how to do such things yet. But i would have loved to! Responses poured in from people of all ages, both genders, gay and straight, and many ethnic origins, and with almost no exception his request was taken seriously. Nine days later he began putting the collaborative video together, and this is what he came up with:

This whole thing is so incredibly powerful! And it immediately made me wonder what we would come up with if we asked the same question here on MaleSurvivor - not with videos, but just with our written responses.

And I liked the idea of closing with “I believe in you, and I believe in me.” Isn’t it true? If we don’t believe in ourselves and each other, at least to some extent, why is it that we come here?

We have all lost so much, and perhaps the most terrible loss is the loss of our ability to believe – in ourselves, in others, in our hope for a better world, in our prospects for recovery. But in the midst of all this, are there things we do in fact still believe in and cling to as the rocks we feel we can build on?

I’d like to try this, and I'm putting it here in this forum so everyone who wants to can participate. If you feel you can, list three things (not more) that you believe in. Thing of what’s important to you and just say it, whatever it is. And again, if you can, end by saying “I believe in you, I believe in me.”

What are mine?

I believe that everyone is lovable.
I believe that everyone deserves respect.
I believe in freedom and justice.

I believe in you, I believe in me.

Much love,

Nobody living can ever stop me
As I go walking my freedom highway.
Nobody living can make me turn back:
This land was made for you and me.
(Woody Guthrie)

Excellent topic, Larry.

I believe in the importance of every person in the world, regardless of how famous or unknown.
I believe all persons contain some good, however hidden it may seem.
I believe God has always loved men, regardless of how little I have loved myself.

I believe in you, I believe in me.

This is an incredible coincidence....

This weekend in Alta at the WOR II I used that phrase "I believe in ME" on a project of mine.

I believe that everyone has value.
I believe that there has to be some good in every person.
I believe that knowledge overcomes ignorance.

I believe in you and I believe in me.

I may believe - but Young Mark does not. At least - not in good things.

I believe in the Church of Baseball. I've tried all the major religions and most of the minor ones. I know things; for instance, there are 108 beads in a Catholic's rosary and 108 stitches in a baseball. When I found that out I gave Jesus a chance, but things just didn't work out between us. The Lord laid too much guilt on me. You see... there's no guilt in baseball and it's never boring. It's a long season and you've got to trust it. I've tried 'em all, I really have, and the only church that truly feeds the soul, day in and day out, is the Church of Baseball.

Beautiful idea, Larry! OK how about a little background music!
Got that going? Good. OK. lol

I believe in you all, my true friends, whom open their hearts and soul to me, to help me along this rocky road. I believe that some day we all will receive the peace and serenity that we all deserve. I believe that we will eventually prevail. Love, hugs & blessings to you all, my friends/brothers.
