God forgive me
for not accepting the person
You made me to be
but it's really hard
when nobody likes that person
especially the people in Your house
they tell me how wrong it is
how bad anyone is who even thinks this way

I mean, I know You are the creator
and they're just the creation
so it really is Your opinion that matters
but I have to deal with them
on this physical plane

sometimes I think it would have been easier
if You had made me a turnip
or a squash

but I really wouldn't mind
if You'd undo the bows on this package
and re-wrap me
to be more what other people will accept

I know, I know
all I need is You
You put the feelings here
and the need to be loved and accepted

I'm not saying You did it wrong
I sure couldn't have done any better
but maybe if You just changed me a little
so I'd be more acceptable
to Your people.

I'd sure appreciate it.

Don't want to stir-up the wrong emotions, just wanted to say it was a really decent and thoughtful piece.

Beautiful too.

I can say unequivocally that the lie of "To truly heal you must first forgive" has derailed more victims than the abusers themselves.

Thanks for the wonder poem.
maybe your house is here and not there.
I have struggled with the same house.

Fear #13: I have no "house" - I don't belong anywhere.

Thanx for the encouragement, Mike.

Your poem made me confront my own lack of acceptance of others and the hurt that it can cause and YOU wrote it...not a turnip or a squash or someone who is wrapped in packaging that judgmental people can accept.
