you take the boy from his toys
you use his skin for your own sin
you make the rules and run the game
you have no conscience
you lack shame
you think you have power
you think you're loved
you poor poor coward
you're all the above

I am not perfect and never will be
I have scars that remind me
I have friends that understand
I have a love that never ends

I'm taking back so many things
I'm taking back my hopes and dreams
I'm taking back my pride
I'm taking back my will to be
I'm taking back my own self worth
I'm taking back my dignity
I'm joining my brothers
I'm joining my sisters

we're not blood
we're something else
we're a band of rebels with common goals
we're fighting mad and caring too
we're taking back what was stole by you

Very nice poem, and I especially like the beginning. It's important to recall the boy so many of us were - surrounded by toys - as the abuser came into our life.

Much love,

Nobody living can ever stop me
As I go walking my freedom highway.
Nobody living can make me turn back:
This land was made for you and me.
(Woody Guthrie)

Thanx for the comments!

Markk - In my head we're rebels resisting and breaking away from a life of abuse
