The Time Was Just Too Late

I think I was eight but you say maybe ten
Its hard to remember now how old I was then.

It doesn't matter what year it was its lying on my plate
You told me to stay away from him the time was Just to late.

On the other side of town just the day before
he showed of a secret thing I never new before

I had one and so did he I though it was just for pee
then something happened different it got lager I could see

He told me one day when I got older I'll be big as he
and all the while we were alone where no one could see

I went home from this strange new world not knowing of my fate
You came to me and told me something but it was just too late.

My heart filled with fear I shuddered in my mind
why didn't you tell me earlier the things that I might find

My life changed for ever on that day
my innocence swept far away

At the age of ten I learned to hide
I'll never tell what I had tried

I walk alone through the gate
because when you warned me it was just too late.

I'm a normal person dealing with abnormal experiences.
The greatest discoveries we will find within ourselves.

I am so sorry you have this memory about the belated warning, my friend. But I wonder how a 10-year-old boy would have reacted to the warning and what understanding he would have had of it. And if he had understood, could he have told. Most boys find that they can't. The bottom line is that it was still all the predator's fault.

Much love,

Nobody living can ever stop me
As I go walking my freedom highway.
Nobody living can make me turn back:
This land was made for you and me.
(Woody Guthrie)

A great poem, Ricky, it speaks a lot about what we didn't know as boys.

I certainly hear many parts of that one Ricky.

Money talks, but all it tells me is goodbye.

If I could meet myself as a boy...
