My books are here!!
I’m excited and I feel like a kid who’s getting ready to go on a journey…no, an adventure (Theme music from Indian Jones movies).
I don’t know which one to read first as they all look good.
I got “Abused Boys”, “Wounded Boys, Heroic Men”, and “Victims No Longer”.
I’ll probably have billions of questions to ask and hope all will bear with me.
I’m so glad I found this site and y’all.
My therapy has been very productive and she’s accepting my insurance as payment with no co-pay, at least for the moment.
I’m getting a pay raise at work and they’re talking about a promotion too.
My beautiful wife has been reassuring even though we’re still apart, and things are currently going well with us. We’ve been having some dialog, and she said she was running away from me because she too was abused when she was younger. This has opened her eyes and will be seeking therapy soon.
Just thought I’d pass this on and say “Thank you all so much for your support and kind words”. It’s good to have friends.

“On the road to recovery, with a full tank of gas, two packs of cigarettes and a bladder-buster cup of coffee”

By the way….Landcruisers Rule!

WTG! Man, I'm excited with you & for you! Tho I havent read those books (I have read Mike Lew's 2nd one, "Leaping Upon the Mountains"), from reviews & all I've heard they're great! You should have some super insights to share.

It's good to hear things are working out better with your therapy, your job, and your wife.

It's just plain good to hear good news!

Thanks for posting & take care friend.

it sound's like party time !!

Doesn't it feel good to .....feel good about something ? Hell, we've had enough of feeling crappy.
Working on recovery does give you a lift, although we do backslide sometimes which is a bummer, but we use the strength we gained before and get over it.

My copy of Victims No Longer is never far from me, and it's in bits, I've thrown it at the wall, read the damn print off it, written notes all over it, scanned whole pages to carry with me to read at work. It's stained with coffee, red wine and tears.
The book was a revalation to me, it still is.

And you are absolutely 100% right - Landcruisers rule \:D I have a '87 diesel LJ70, a model you didn't get over there. It's battered to hell and covered in mud, just the way I like it.

At my third therapy visit my therapist loaned me his copy of 'Victims No Longer' by Mike Lew. I started reading it and I couldn't put it down. I thought it was written for me. I put a dust jacket from a mystery novel (to disguise it of course) and took it with me everywhere. It was the first time that I ever heard that there were other men who had been abused as boys and they had many of the same problems/behaviours as I. I wasn't alone anymore. I've since bought a couple of copies in the last almost five years. Mike Lew saved my sanity.
